L'OEuvre de Pierre Charron (1541-1603): Litterature et theologie de Montaigne a Port-Royal

This study examines the coherence of Pierre Charron's work, predicated as it was on the notion of wisdom. Charron strove to reconcile a humanist vision with a demystifying discourse that borrows from Saint Augustine. The mixed reception of his work sheds light on the history of ideas upstream of the Pascalian project.
