Description
In the last few years, Philosophy has uncovered a tendency to problematize fear, most likely aggravated by the historic events that have marked the beginning of the 21st century. But if philosophers must consider fear today, it is not only because of these outside pressures of terror and violence, but also by a force from within due to developing transformations in the heart of philosophy itself. The purpose of this book is, firstly, to analyze the philosophical blocks which have prevented serious discussion about fear; secondly, to determine the scope of any recent works on the subject in order to use their findings, avoid their limitations, and propose a new working definition of fear; and finally, to closely examine the relationships between writings on fear. Far from claiming to be exhaustive, this book aspires to stimulate future reflection on the subject of fear for future generations of thinkers.
