Imprescindible la verdad

En esta obra, José Antonio Pérez Tapias aborda una discusión a fondo sobre la verdad y sus diferentes sentidos, y razona sobre por qué es imprescindible la verdad. Se profundiza en los argumentos acerca de por qué y cómo sostener las verdades susceptibles de ser compartidas sobre la base de buenas razones, y frente al mercado de la posverdad. En la era de la posverdad, en tanto se ve barrida la verdad de la escena pública, la convivencia se hace imposible. Esto se debe a la fuerza de un poder que destruye la misma política y se impone como dominio a la sociedad. Ante tan grave consecuencia, a la crítica de la posverdad le sigue la apuesta por una política de verdad, necesaria como condición de la democracia. Qué hacer con la verdad en la vida política no es problema solo de ahora. Ya lo abordaron los griegos. Conviene girar la mirada hacia ellos, para luego, de vuelta, considerar cómo se puede mantener un compromiso de verdad en nuestras democracias actuales.

In this work, the author addressed an in-depth discussion about the truth and its different meanings, and why the truth is essential. He delves into the arguments about why and how to sustain truths that can be shared on the basis of good reasons, and in the face of the post-truth market. In the post-truth era, as truth is swept from the public scene, coexistence becomes impossible. This is due to the force of a power that destroys politics itself and imposes itself as domination on society. Faced with such a serious consequence, the criticism of post-truth is followed by the commitment to a politics of truth, necessary as a condition of democracy. What to do with the truth in political life is not just a problem for now. The Greeks already tackled it. It is convenient to look at them, and then, back, consider how a real commitment can be maintained in our current democracies.
